Quick!

Just a quick post so my sister doesn't get testy...she's mentioned a time or two that it's annoying to come by and not have something new to read :)

  • I was hoping to be able to show you the skirt I've been working my tail off on but alas, I ran out of tulle :( I've placed an order so I'll hopefully have it finished by Friday!
  • Made this cute little guy for the shop but looks like it won't go in there until tomorrow morning.
  • Working tonight.
  • Need a shower.
  • Raining.
  • I've got sprouts in the Fairy meadow...sprouts people! I'm not a seed failure after all!!
  • 10 days left of school or 9 since two of those days are only 1/2 days.
  • Just booked Ruby's birthday party at the Works (pool).
  • I can't believe we stopped watching last seasons Weeds...playing catch up last night...such a great show!
  • I'm supposed to take a food test at work. The word 'test' IS a four letter word...kwim??? Stommmmacheee achhhe.
  • Time to print the tide chart.
  • Time to print Butternut Farms fruit schedule.
  • mmmmmm, Summer.

It's been a loooonnnnggg week. I don't usually work this much and doing it four nights in a row is tough on all of us. Holy crap-ola!!!! I still need to get through tonight and tomorrow night...I'm getting too old for this...at least I feel that way.

I swear a herd of elephants visited me during my four hour 'nap' last night...trampling on my back, arms, neck. You know mama is one tired lady when sleeping on a big fat hair clip is WAY better than taking the uneccessary time it takes to reach up and pull it out ;( ouch, ouch, ouch this morning!!!

***

The Fairies paid a visit to my girls last night...they brought notes of encouragement and fresh flowers. I wish I could have been here to see their faces...I was at work :( Am I feeling guilty lately...hellllloo yeah!

I love that they believe...it makes me believe...magic.

Have a great day!

Tid-bits...

So. I finally found a natural decorating food color! I really wanted to make these (scroll down) for Ruby's birthday treats to bring to school. What fun! Meg made the cake version as an end of the year goody and I fell in love! However, food coloring...is G.R.O.S.S!!! Anyone who knows me well would know I HATE green mint chocolate chip ice cream and colorful frosting's...especially when you can SEE the color stained on your kiddos teeth, lips, hands and clothing...ewwwwww! So psyched about being able to make this now!!! Yeah!

owl - bunny

owl - doggy

squirrel - owl - owl
Ruby is a natural artist. I love her creativity. She made these all on her own. They're paper pillows :)

Daddy has an industrial leaf blower and blew the leaves from the backyard this weekend :) The girls were having fun playing in the 'tornado'.

Is that not the ugliest frog you ever did see? He's been hanging around here for the past few days...I can't even look at the picture too long without getting the chills.

~ My sewing machine is ready to be picked up! I'll grab it tomorrow. Nothing was wrong with it...it just need a tune-up to the TUNE of $90!!! :O For oiling the darn thing...are you kidding me????? OMG!!!! I felt telling the lady to eat it but then I'd be out my machine. Times are tough lady...don't take it out on me!!!! It's going to KILL me forking over that kind of dough...KILL me! Doesn't that seem high??

~ Taking the girls to swim this afternoon even though it's like the last thing on earth I want to do. The idea of it is really unappealing but I know it'll make them happy so I'm gonna suck it up.

~ I have no desire to make dinner tonight. None.

~ I planted a Fairy Meadow in lieu of a vegetable garden this year. I hope, hope, hope it turns out! I'm not good with seeds so I'm crossing my fingers!

~ Over and out...got to go pack up our swim bag!

Three...

I can't believe Stella will be three in four days! She will, she really will! Time sure has flown...OK, ready for another one

NOT!

The 'gooky' fairy (aka the pacifier fairy) will be visiting our house Sunday night...oh please pray for me!!! I've got three MAJOR events to deal with concerning Stella and that is just one. I hope the old saying is true, 'it'll hurt me more than it'll hurt you'. It'll break my heart knowing how much she loves that darn thing! I don't really mind her having it but there are others who make their opinions known ;)

I figure once that's gone maybe she'll want to potty train. She wants NOTHING to do with it now and I'm starting to get worried! She's set to go to school two days a week (for two and a half hours) in September and she HAS to be potty trained...yikes!

Lastly, I HAVE to get her out of our bed!!! I don't know what to do, I don't know how to do it! If anyone has any ideas PLEASE help!! I don't want to hear 'I told you so' or 'You should have never let her sleep with you in the first place'...ANYTHING along those lines will be met with deaf ears. Comments like that aren't really useful, you know? I'm looking for helpful advice...OK?

Alright, I'm off to get ready for work! Anyone local want to come visit me??? I'll make you a really, REALLY good cocktail!!!

Fairy-fish...

Last night just before putting the girls to bed I noticed a certain 'someone' wasn't swimming around his bowl.
Yes, it's true.
Ruby's purple fish 'Goldy' kicked the bucket.
Ruby didn't take it very well.
It took big sister to step in to give Ruby the special love only one can get from a sibling.
Zoe certainly shines as a big sister.
After explaining to Ruby that her fish will now become a 'fairy-fish' she calmed down...but only long enough to catch her breath before her next bout of wailing continued.
Thinking a story might calm/cheer her up I asked her what she'd like to hear.
I was thinking Olivia (always makes me laugh) or Miss Nelson Is Missing (one of their faves)...but no.
Ruby wanted (and I preface this by saying I absolutely h.a.t.e. to read this book...it's annoying)...
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.
I kid you not.
Way to add salt to the wound there chicky!
Indeed after the story she had settled herself down and was ready to carry on.
RIP Goldy.

sisterly love...

A couple new things that will get listed in the shop :)

****

This dress is Stella's current fave. She wears it as soon as it's clean...doesn't matter that it's a Summer frock. She'll wear to bed, for dress-up, with jeans...any ol' time. Good thing I also have it in a size 5.

I caught you Ruby!!!!
Don't you just love her get-up? This seems to be her fave when playing 'fairy'. See my awesome Christmas present hanging on the wall?? I love that the tree is over the fairy door :)

Two silly fairies trying to fly.

One in flight.

Two in flight.

Hanging with da homeys.

Look, it's Ruby too!

Going to try and do some house work today and stay away from my 'office'. I've got loads of laundry to do and other nasty chores waiting in the wings.
Have a good Sunday!

I absolutely love the way these shots came out from last Halloween. Of course while taking them I was cursing my camera because I clearly couldn't see the magic the little LCD screen didn't portray. Can you see the 'ghosts' or as we have lovingly termed the 'fairies' following R and leading Z? I've blown up the top one and still haven't gotten a frame to put it in...a must do for the week! I'm already pulling out Fall and Halloween decorations and can't wait to really do it up...my style...which means understated but festive :)

I can't seem to get ahead this week! I still haven't done a darn thing creatively and it's really starting to get me down! Actually, I have been doing some crafty stuff but it's all for Z's 8th b'day party this weekend! I still have a ton to do but so far this is what the plan is (in case you care or you're just nosy)

Z's party plan from 2-4pm

  • Fairy scavenger hunt leading to a festive pinata.

  • Before doing the hunt each girlie will pick out wings and a skirt so that they are in proper fairy attire.

  • The hunt includes these items: seashell, caramel apple, emerald stone, feathery pen, acorn, gourd, butterfly, frog and snake.

  • After the hunt each girlie will make their own flower wand with ribbons.

  • Cake will be homemade marble with chocolate frosting.

  • For snacks Z wanted mozzarella sticks (gag...okay, they're good but I'll be buying the Friday's brand in the freezer section...no WAY am I actually preparing them)
  • Make your own sundaes but I'm not sure necessary.

  • I'm hoping for decorations I'll be able to figure out how to make the flower pom poms that N has.

  • If time allows we'll do musical chairs to the Jonas Brothers...Z loves them and they're harmless :)

Sparklies

  • Made a homemade spinach and feta calzone for dinner...yeah, no meat!

  • The girls were really good at Target today.

  • The weather today was just perfect!

  • Got my prints from the black apple today and I LOVE them!

  • Got a bag of fabric scraps today too and they're super duper!

  • Didn't get a ton done around the house but I just don't care!

  • Looking forward to the gym tomorrow!

how do you like them apples...

took a trip to butternut today and stocked up on our first batch of apples for the season...they were plentiful and super delicious! the weather was great and except for a little bit of ol'lady whining from R (my knee hurts, my ankle hurts, i can't walk...yadda, yadda, yadda)...we had a fun day.
why is it every time i go to butternut i can't seem to put the brakes on when picking fruit? i always need to get just one more apple, one more pint of blueberries, one more everything!!! why????
what did you do today?
sparklies:
  • cousin Scott surprised us with a visit this morning.
  • mom came up and we went apple picking.
  • i made a really yummy dish for dinner tonight and despite there being anchovy in the sauce C loved it and didn't notice ;)
  • tomorrow is monday with a new week full of promise.
  • Z finished her project and was so sensitive about using moss because she didn't want to hurt the earth...LOVE HER!
  • saw three yellow and two white fairies at the orchard.

goals for the week:

  • go to three classes at the gym.
  • design, design, design.
  • make a valance curtain for the kitchen and downstairs bathroom.

keeping the magic alive...

is absolutely one of the most important things i think i can do as a mom who hasn't introduced religion into the girlies lives. i'm not going to say 'why' exactly we haven't done this... it just hasn't drawn me/us in. i consider myself very spiritual...believing in magic, fairies, mother nature. i think of religion as something to believe in...so maybe my religion is fairies and magic...i don't know, maybe it's childish...but it's me. anyways, i digress.

our fairy door was installed a few days ago and since being installed, we've been waiting patiently for them to arrive. now granted, i do my part in keeping the magic fire lit when fielding questions from Z or R (S is still too young to get it)...i call monarch butterflies fairies, i carved the girlies initials into the only three pumpkins in our pumpkin patch and when asked by Z who could have done it i exclaimed with conviction 'the fairies'! i tell them fire flies are lanterns for lost fairies, that dragonflies are boy fairies, that heart rocks are worth a wish. you get my drift...the list goes on.

so, tomorrow on R's first day of Kindergarten and the start of Z's first full week of school...the fairies will have come. they've left fairy dust on the floor, a tiny bike for riding and three scrolls one each for the girls. tomorrow i'll post their reaction and what these scrolls said...so do stay tuned. i'd take a picture now but it's just too dark to do it justice...so you'll have to wait.

you can find these fantastic fairy doors here

sweet dreams!
