why hello there!

things clear to me
a list because i love lists:
  1. one thing is at least consistently consistent...i've been completely inconsistent with just about everything.
  2. putting unnecessary pressure on myself to do any ONE thing everyday is just.too.much
  3. hence project 365...i made it what two weeks?  lol
  4. my life is pretty crazy so why not throw another puppy into the mix...make it extra special
  5. wanting the said second puppy is definitely my inner self trying to fill a sad void i've felt over the past year
  6. his name is bruno and expected home any minute now.
  7. my girls are on vacation and have a combined three projects due for school...i am completely irritated by this!!!!  wtf!  it took ME three hours to finish a stinkin' music report today ;)
  8. i need to change the look of my blog...it's time.
  9. maybe then i'll feel like coming over here!
  10. i'm making manhattan clam chowder for my dad tomorrow...hope it's good!
  11. last night i was THRILLED to be at work to escape the trapped feeling you get when your kids are sick.  it's been a week now and poor ruby still has a fever.
  12. i highly recommend this children's book ...
  13. i hate that my kids have to grow up...makes me sad yet proud at the same time.
  14. i miss my sisters and wish they lived next door.
  15. i really love my job...all of them.
  16. i got this and can't believe with the amount of baking i do it's taken me so long!
  17. i've been on a marsala bend lately....in cooking that is!
  18. i'm dying to eat mistral's tuna tartare...
  19. one of these days i'm going to break out the sewing machine again...too much construction going on in our house right now :(
  20.  i promised my mom i'd update with pictures more often...that promise i can keep.
night night...gonna go wait by the window for the arrival of our new son!

A little something for someone...

I made the big pillow to go in the shop but it's not perfect so I'm keeping it! I just got in some super fun fabric to back more pillows so do stay tuned!!

Goof girl in my pseudo (cough) garden.

Flying color.

My kitchen aid until I get the Ice blue Kitchen Aid...ho hummmmm.

~ I'm fighting another headache.
~ Made delicious chocolate chip cookies with Ruby this afternoon...hence the headache maybe?
~ No sign of any...not even one teensy tiny bud from the seeds in the Fairy Meadow I planted.
~ I'm like a ticking time bomb...don't mess with me.
~ Laundry, laundry, laundry.
~ I hate that I often feel like I don't measure up...broad statement and that's how I want it.
~ Chef Jamie made me feel awesome Saturday night when he said 'why can't you work here seven days a week.' :) You just can't find owners and management like this everywhere...worthy of the hour commute there and back.
~ I'm attempting to make Zoe a skirt...you'll see what I come up with if it looks decent enough to share.
~ Yippppeeee for Farmer's Markets!!!
~ Three weeks of school and I'm scrambling.
~ I'd love to send Zoe to either a Waldorf or Montessori school in September.
~ Do I look like a mind reader?
~ I love our neighbors Charlie and Patty Brown. Yep, Charlie and Patty Brown...how freakin cute is that??? Charlie even wears a Charlie Brown tee shirt!
~ Three fighter flew over our house this afternoon...F.r.E.a.K.y!!!!

***
Ok. Gots-to-go! Have a super fab night!

hmmmm....

Yesterday was H.O.T!
Today is H.O.T!
Summer, here we come!

Randoms:
~ Why does Elmer's Glue smell SOOOOO bad!!!! (ya know what? I don't actually really want to know...too disturbing!)
~ I'd totally pay the $700 to have our lawn cleared of leaves every Fall...it's totally worth it in my opinion...cause guess what? We've got leaves ALL over our backyard, making nice little homes for all the woodchucks and what-have-you's.
~ I attempted to remove leaves from my vegetable garden...brought my 'A' game and everything. I lasted for about five minutes and then I heard crying...that was my back, legs, arms, mind, body and soul.
~ I'm totally not a quitter ;)
~ I stocked up on Frosty Paws, Popsicles, Fudgesicles, ice cream, cones and sprinkles. The ice cream man better steer clear of this neighborhood today because I'll be da_ned if I spend $30 on his treats!
~ I'm loving my new Blackberry :)
~ Do you really believe it when someone says they don't have any regrets? I think that's a load of crap. I totally regret lots of things I've said, done and will do. Yep, will do.
~ Like the time I ordered a rare hamburger when I was like 7. My sister and I were visiting my Grandmother in New York and were at some ritzy restaurant and the waitress asked me how I wanted my burger cooked. The only thing I could remember her saying was rare, medium rare, medium or well. The chocolate milk was really, really good there.
~ Should I take it as a good sign that I haven't heard from the sewing machine Dr.? Like when you go to the hospital and they say 'no news is good news'...is that wishful thinking???
~ I will totally be putting my little patchwork pillows in the shop as soon as I make more!
~ I've got a HOLY SALE, SALE, SALE going on in my shop right now. More things will be listed as soon as I can! I'm cleaning out my stash making room for new things...gettum while there hot!
~ Market Basket isn't as bad as I thought...went there today and got about double what I'd get at Hannafords for less $$$$.
~ I truly love bartending and can't believe how much I missed it.
~ My legs are horribly pale.
~ The post lady at our local post office is the monster from Monster's Inc. who says 'You forgot to turn in your paper work last night'....envision please with sound effects ta-boot.
~ I can be mean.
~ Sorry!

Have yourselves a lovely day!

Tings...

  • Planted the pots for the front steps.
  • Made Zoe flash cards.
  • Finished up some orders.
  • Spiced up the Blair Witch wreath.
  • Made a casserole for dinner so all Craig has to do is heat it up.
  • Did a little laundry.
  • Vacuumed.
  • Didn't dust.
  • Didn't clean the bathrooms.
  • Didn't wash the windows.
  • Didn't rake the leaves out of my front flower beds.
  • Didn't clean hundreds of pounds worth of food out of my car.
  • Didn't put all the laundry away.
  • Didn't clean the fish bowls.
  • Don't care.
Off to work.
Have a great day!

Bits...

Snuck up on little miss as she was singing her way through the ABC's.

Still singing and in her own little world :)

Munchkin.

***
My beloved vintage martini shakers...Craig found these for me at an old Antique store in Boston before we were married :)

Kinda ugly, kinda cute, soft as can be. Made this for one of Zoe's girlfriends for her b'day. Zoe has one that Miya's been admiring for quite some time so voila!

***
  • Stella took a mean spill this afternoon at the playground :(
  • I'm making some sort of pasta with asparagus and goat cheese for dinner...to chicken or not to chicken?
  • I really, really need to get the leaves out of my front gardens...if it doesn't rain tomorrow it's a must do.
  • Ran into 'Missy' at the playground today. She asked when Ruby could come over. I skirted around the issue and finally said that I'd have to get back to her and that Ruby wanted 'Chloe' to come to our house. I walked away to get something out of my bag and 'Missy' then asked Ruby if she wanted to come over!!!!!!! Are you following me???? I had just answered her question and now she's asking RUBY????? The gloves are coming off...As I've said before I'm really bad at confrontation but it looks like I'm going to have to let my bitch out of the bag.
  • The exterminator came today...sugar ants.
  • Did I ever tell you how Zoe got RED nail polish all over the bathroom walls, toilet, vanity and floor. It looks like a scene from Friday the 13th. It looks horror-ible :)
  • I am on hunt big time for some old school lockers for the playroom. They don't have to be in great condition and I don't care what color...I'll be painting them. Keep your eyes out and if you see any please let me know! I don't want brand new...too expensive!
  • Thank God the leaves are starting to come out on the trees...I really do feel bad that our neighbors have to look at our chipping paint and all the other chaos that is happening with our house.
  • Laundry, laundry, laundry.
  • Can you believe it's May already???
  • Happy birthday Deke!!!
  • I'm trying to convince Craig that a recycled plastic rug like this one would look great in our family room AND is environmentally friendly :)
  • I think I'm going through a mid-life crisis already...uh oh.
  • Can't flipping WAIT for the new season of Real Housewives of New Joyyyyzzzyyyy. Hot messes all of them!
  • Ok. Ruby-doo wants to play Webkinz so my time is up!

  • i need a potty training 101 course since my almost 3yr old wants NOTHING to do with it!
  • i'm working tomorrow night!
  • about 1/4 of our roof is done.
  • i'm not in the mood to even contemplate a garden this year...hopefully this will change.
  • when i feel overwhelmed i get nothing done.
  • which is why i've barely gotten anything done.
  • the littlest things make me stress.
  • our lawn looks like clifford the dog pissed all over it.
  • the robins have been enjoying quite a feast on our lack there of lawn.
  • that means grubs.
  • i've given up caring what our neighbors must think of our house and it's constant state of renovation.
  • did i mention our back yard was the stump dump for out entire neighborhood?
  • am i whining?
  • sorry.

please help me...

Welcome the newest members of our family!
That's Goldy (even though he's purple. Oh and even though it's a boy beta Ruby chooses to call him a girl :) I could take photos of Stella's and Zoe's fish but they all look the same. Stella named hers Goldfish and Zoe's is Finz. Thanks Anthony and Jeanne for the Christmas dough...this is what they wanted!!!

Now for the latest:
  • Disney On Ice - Water $4 each, Hot Dogs $6.50 each, Minny Mouse Stuffy $12 each, Cotton Candy (I don't know Grammy bought that but I'm sure it was as inexpensive as everything else ;), Parking $20, Tickets $32 each. The girls were into it to a point but then I think they just zoned out. I thought the show was as cheesy as they come and found myself laughing when I wasn't supposed to be. I don't think I can even write what I was thinking because I wouldn't want to offend. I'll just say that it's hard to believe there were grown men wearing some of those costumes :O
  • I ate lemon cookies for breakfast, chocolate pudding for lunch and a pickle for snack. No, I'm not pregnant. Quite the opposite.
  • I've been going to bed WAY too late and getting up WAY too late. I hate that.
  • I'm putting the finishing touches on my resume and about to seriously go job hunting.
  • My old GM from Mistral made me tear up this morning from a sweet email he sent me. Gates, you are one to admire.
  • School starts back in six more days...but who's counting?
  • I'm working on an order right now and hope to have some new designs in the shop by the end of the week.
  • I'm predicting a Migraine in less than two hours. Yeah, yeah, I know...it's the sugar+hormones=pain
  • I feel like the laziest person on earth when our schedule is interrupted by things like v.a.c.a.t.i.o.n. I need the constants in life.
  • I'm making eggplant cutlet sandwiches for dinner with roasted red peppers, mozzarella, garlic & herb mayo on toasted rolls. Craig's favorite!
  • I hate New Year's Eve.
  • However, I am looking forward to a new year!
  • OK. back to work.

I'm feeling a little crazy today

  • Christmas cards still have not arrived.
  • My sewing machine has been acting up today with loads and loads of sewing waiting in the wings...this is not a good time Mr. Viking!
  • Mr. Brown aka UPS arrived with just two out of the eight packages I'm expecting.
  • I haven't even begun three important gifts I planned on making. I've got ideas and already dyed the fabric in...get this Starbucks coffee...just need to get around to the actual designing part.
  • I still haven't wrapped a single gift.
  • I made two batches of cookies this morning and the basic mix for several more...when the hoot am I going to have the time?
  • We're expecting a ton of snow tomorrow, Sunday and Christmas Eve.

The bottom line is...and I do this to myself all the time. All the time. I put too much on my plate. At this point I'm convinced I do it on purpose. You know, for the thrill of it all. To see if I can actually accomplish everything I want to accomplish and still have a neat house. It's a little game I play...I know. Sicko.

please pray that I get my everything tomorrow...K?

little houses...

It's a snow day!!!
Woke up and everything was white and my head was pounding. I logged onto the puter at 5:30am and found out school was delayed. Grateful to lay my head down for a bit longer I went back to sleep.
About 8:30am I find out school is now cancelled...joy broke out in the house and I started my daily ritual of making beds, emptying the dish washer and starting laundry. I finished everything I had to do and figured with Christmas just a week away I better start making those gifts I had planned on making!!!
The teachers will be getting hand towels and a few other things. When the gifts are totally done I'll post a pic :)
****
  • we still have not received the Christmas cards I ordered.
  • I'm still waiting on at least 8 packages to arrive with gifts I've ordered.
  • I've wrapped a total of zero gifts.
  • Tomorrow I'll be starting the beef jerky process. HUH? For the past few years I've made my dear ol' Dad homemade beef jerky for Christmas. I just hate to think of him eating all those chemicals in the store bought brand and he luvs his beef jerky :)
  • I'm sure I've forgotten someone or something I've been meaning to buy for...happens every year and I'm left scrambling.
  • Currently I'm loving The Kings of Leon and can crank out a ton of work while listening to my men.

OK. To the sewing machine I go!

Have a happy hump day!

XO

sniff, cough, a---chooo...

Yucky.
I've felt like el-crappo for the past couple of days. I've been coughing so much I can feel my abs getting a quality workout (so there IS a plus side). However coughing while experiencing a migraine is a cruel punishment I doubt anyone deserves (ok...maybe Osama Bin Laden).
I feel like this week has been a fuzzy haze with very little productivity. Monday was good. Got a bunch made for the shop but after that round of goodies it all went downhill. I did get around to making two yoga sweatshirts for my sister Mel to take to India...they came out very cute if I do say so myself. (I can't post them because I do want them to be a surprise for her). I will however make adaptations of them tomorrow and post them here and in the shop so keep your eyes open!
Random things that bug the crapola out of me:
  • Spare change randomly placed willy nilly.
  • Leaving the house before the beds are made.
  • Anyone other than myself doing the dishes in my kitchen.
  • Clutter.
  • As a lover of giving feedback on etsy it truly bums me out when not receiving the same courtesy...it takes just one second and it does matter.
  • Dog hair.
  • Dried dog slobber found in gosh, you name it!
  • Dried toothpaste in the sink bowl.
  • The total mess that is my craft/dining room.
  • Raking leaves for two hours and not making a dent.
  • Dishonesty.
  • When a really good TV series ends.
  • Not knowing what to make for dinner and when asking for suggestions the answer is always, 'it's up to you'.
  • Not finishing a project.
  • Seeing Halloween decorations still up. (Not my house y'all!)

Ok. Time's up for me...I'm off to do the dishes. My dishes. In my kitchen.

today's sparklies...

LoVe this and going to get it...for sure! you can find it here at the black apple : one of my most favorite etsy shops. i'd own everything she has to offer if i could...baby steps :)

everyday i'm going to attempt to post things i'm grateful for that day.

random musings...

from a bored housewife.

1. woke up sunday morning to find out that the Anitvirus XP 2008 had taken over our main computer...i then spent much of the day trying to de-bug my lifeline (oh please, i have every right to be dramatic...it SUCKED and i was pmsing so stick a sock in it :).

2. where the bleep did summer go and where the bleep is the warm weather and bleep the damn rain...enough already!

3. why dear god are speedos still being made? i nearly lost my dinner tonight in the pool when i accidently gazed in HIS direction. are you kidding me? did you REALLY think that looked good on you? please, if you're European you get a pass...just. this. once! (i'm just glad z wasn't with us or there would have been WAY too many questions)

4. migraine # 12 hit me today...i'm fine thanks to maxalt...i'd be dying without it.

5. going to get my eyes checked tomorrow...i'm thinking/hoping if there's something wrong with my eyes and i get some cute little retro glasses to wear it would not only add a bit of flair to my outfits but would also decrease the amount of migraines i get a month...i probably should have reversed the order in which i wrote that but obviously the importance of being fashionable outweighs any health issues.

6. i should have sugar coated the pains of childbirth when my oldest daughter asked if it hurt...r finds in necessary to report at least once a day that she is NEVER going to have children.

7. if i had a million dollars i'd spend it all...even if i never have a million dollars i'll still spend it all in my dreams...so selfish i know...la di dah.

8. s now thinks my bed is her bed and c can't sleep in it...oh boy, trying to break this one is going to be reallllly fun!

9. r has been talking about death, dying and dead all the time lately...what is going on with this girl??? is this normal talk for a 5 year old??? i don't remember z talking like this.

10. when does The Shield, Brotherhood and Dexter start up again and anyone else totally hooked on The Two Coreys???

11. my sister m will be going to india for a few months this winter...how cool is that?

12. i haven't made anything cute for my store in a couple of days...tomorrow i absolutely will!

13. i'm showcasing some of my cuties tomorrow in the children's section of etsy after 12 noon...come see!

14. looking forward to our annual trip to the cape next week...i'll be doing a sun dance regularly until then!

night y'all!

just a list...

~ i'm a list person.
~ i often write a list for a list.
~ if i make the tiniest of errors on my list it will be thrown out and started over.
~ i go crazy when someone other than myself doodles on my list.
~ an unauthorized doodle will precipitate a new list.
~ i love crossing things off my list.
~ enough about lists.
~ i hate when the ice cream man comes around our neighborhood...it inevitably is the day i have absolutely no money to account for.
~ it's even worse when he loops around twice...wtf???
~ i've torn this house upside down looking for an overdue library book. when calling to ask for another renew the librarian informed me if i can't find the book i would have to pay $10.95 for another one which really bothers me knowing i could get it cheap off ebay.
~ the book in question is your eight year old by louise bates ames...does that tell you anything?
~ what in the hootten-nanny am i going to make for dinner?
~ big family party planned for this weekend...rain is in the forecast.
~ do you even need to think about the question: chocolate or vanilla?
~ i have blueberries and two bananas that need to be delt with...muffins, pie or smoothies?
~ i made an eye appointment...somethings up.
~ i can't possibly keep this house dust, dirt, dog hair and spider web free...i vacume every day and it's never enough.
~ i planted three types of pumpkins and only one has produced...they're all in the same area...what gives?
~ the pumpkin thing really has me bummed as i was hoping to save money this fall...i end up spending a small fortune every fall on pumpkins of all shapes, sizes and colors.
~ speaking of fall...did fall come early? it's been in the 60's and low 70's all week!
~ i've got to remember to bring my camera to shoot the girls while swimming...we've been going every night for an evening swim in lieu of tv...love that!
~ s has been saying 'oh yeah' after almost everything she says...it's so cute!
~ attempted to get into the new children's museum in dover yesterday...bad idea on a rainy day...they were taking reservations at the door and you had to wait. a loooooong time...nixed that idea and ate a little lunch under the half shell instead.

okay. time's up...got to get down to the nitty gritty and figure out what the hoot to make for dinner...hate that. love to cook but only when i have a plan not like right now. nuff said.
