i thought it'd be hard waking up this morning
i guess it's not hard when you're sleeping with one eye open
i could.not.sleep last night!
i think it was because i knew my alarm was set
just waiting for it to go off
don't you just hate that?

*
with the girls off to school
i came home
finished that cute lil' number below for miss nancy
threw in some laundry
lit a fire
and cleaned up a bit
*
i had time to spare before picking up stella
at preschool
i went shopping
found a few great vintage treats
at
'just the thing'
they really do always have just the thing
lOvE that!

Working on a lil' order and trying like crazy to make some pants to go with the big bro tee!!!
Will update if successful :O

Ta-Da!

I did it!
A party hat for the snow!
Who wouldn't want one?
I think I can do it again and again!
This time I'll make it so it'll fit one of the girls.
This one was supposed to but I ahem, oops!
So this one I'll sell :)
It'll fit a baby with an approx 17" head.
You can find it here if you'd like it.

**
I'm going to be taking down most of my shop and will list new things as I make them. They'll be one of a kind and in the size listed. I'm going to try and avoid doing the same design over and over again in different sizes...too boring for me!
**
Soon, soon, soon you'll be seeing a whole new blog makeover and I can't wait!
I need a change.
I've been in a slump.
This fab designer is going to help give me the boost I need.
Can't wait!

**
Yesterday I got an email from my General Manager at work. All it said was 'Great job last night superstar!'.
He made my whole day and it made me realize how lucky I am to work in such a positive, professional, top-notch company. Yeah!
**
Uggg. The holidays are just around the corner and I'm not ready for any of it. I already feel pulled in every direction and it's not even November yet! Oyyyy.
**
Ok.
I've got orders to fill and laundry to do.
All of which could have been done instead my lil' party hat.
Oh well!
xoxo

My overpaid super model ;)

So, my idea was to make a 'party' hat but a warm 'party' hat. I wanted it to be a cone but this will do for my first time around. It's cozy and cute! Once I get them perfect perhaps you'll see them in the shop. I'm onto mittens next! I'll post pix when I'm done :)

Rock star Ruby...

Martha's Halloween Blondies...mmmmmmm

2 sticks of butter
1 cup of packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1.5 t pure vanilla
2 cups flour
1.5t coarse salt
brown, yellow and orange m&m's

350 preheated oven. Mix all ingrediants together except the m&m's. Pour into a buttered 8X8 parchment lined pan. Have the kids decorate the top with the m&m's. Bake for approx 45min until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

just a little peek...you may be getting one this year for Christmas :)

10/1/09

I had to combat my ho-hums and do something fun to lift my spirits. So, while I should have been doing a number of other things I instead made Stella this little recycled dress. Dug through the Goodwill bag I had packed to send off and made this little number out of 5 different pieces. SO cute and SO fun. If I get good enough perhaps I'll open a second etsy shop ;) Like who has time for that, right?

9/15/09

I was talking to my sister on the phone yesterday. She was asking how the girls liked school...yada, yada, yada. Then she asked if Stella had had any playdates yet :O AAAAKKKK!
I guess I answered her a bit sharply by saying 'GOD, no!!!'
I had almost forgotten about those dreaded things. Now, I know it's not going to make me popular by saying this, but really? I'd rather make flippin' mud pies on my freshly cleaned rugs (that I did myself) than play small-talk. I really can't stand the fakery and in trying to be my authentic self, I'd rather not because inevitably the time is spent something like this....'lets make small talk, fill in the void, compare my mothering to your mothering and how many organic goodies are in your lunch box and I can't believe you don't have your toes professionally painted and my husband is fabulous and can take naps all day and we're going to Disney World for Thanksgiving and my house is cleaned once a week by Merry Maids and my Prada bag is bigger than your 'what kind of bag is that?'...Do you get it? It's exhausting! I just don't care to have these fakery friendships...I don't want them. I've got no time for them. They drive me NUTS!
*
Now. I have to admit. Some good has come from these 'playdates' in the past. But just like everything else...you've got to go through twenty to find one or two (Lis, if you're reading this you are the golden egg in the bunch.) SO. If it happens because we have a connection and WE want to spend time together than great. But if your snot-nosed kid wants to play with my snot-nosed kid and you and I have zippo in common...it ain't happenin'.

In other news...
:)
Just listed in the shop!
Have a simply fabulous day.

Yesterday was the first day of school for all THREE of the girlies!
I had TWO whole hours to myself!
What did I do?
Hit Target and took my sweet time.
Bought a life sized ironing board....what a treat ;)
Well, it is.
Considering I've been using a two foot long one for a year...wtf?
Crazy the things you'll go without until you just can't anymore.
I was sure the big girls were going to have a great day.
They were ready to go back and SO excited!
I truly felt like my heart swelled inside me as they set off with smiles on their faces.
Stella on the other hand woke up crying.
'I don't want to go to Bunnies and Blocks' whhhaaaaahhhhhh.
Ugggg.
This was going to be HARD.
When we got there she put her brave little face on.
Wouldn't talk to anyone.
Had that pensive look in her eye.
I brought her in,
showed her where the potty was (still new at the potty thing),
brought her over to her mat at the circle,
and she cried....a sad, nervous cry.
'Mama, I have to tell you something' over and over again.
It made my heart break.
I handed her off and walked out without even a look over my shoulder.
I knew that would be it if I did.
About twenty minutes later I get a call from the Head Mistress of the school.
She's the quintessential preschool teacher.
Just perfect.
Her cheerful voice calming me instantly...
She said 'Stella is fine, she's talking, playing, having a great time'.
I don't think I took a breath until after I heard that message.
The picture above was taken by Miss Mary Beth while Stella made a sculpture.
Sure looks happy to me!
She hasn't stopped talking about school and is SO proud of herself.
I'm SO proud of her...we all are.
Now.
In other news.
Our computer is done.
Kaaaa-plunk.
Finito!
We need a new one.
Greaaaattttt.
I've got loads of pictures to upload, an ipod to charge, things to print...and can't.
Not to even mention ALL of Craig's work is on that computer.
I hope to God we can retrieve all those documents!!!
:O
My life is revolving around burlap.
I'm in the process of making many, many burlap pillows for L'Andana.
I'm totally allergic.
But.
LOVE burlap.
I've got a million ideas on what to do with burlap, bulap and more burlap.
SO SOON...now that the kids are back in school.
You'll hopefully begin to see my shop spruce up a bit.
I'm really excited.
Ok.
Girl in tub needs to get out.
Later Taters...

Shop news...

A couple new things listed today...SO CUTE!
I've been working on a few custom items and finally finished them!
You will slowly see things added as time allows.
This mom, working 3-4 nights a week, trying to keep an etsy shop running thing isn't so easy!
My heart is IN it completely and I notice a light in my step when I finish a project so it's a MAJOR priority for me.
Please stay tuned...

Quick!

Just a quick post so my sister doesn't get testy...she's mentioned a time or two that it's annoying to come by and not have something new to read :)

  • I was hoping to be able to show you the skirt I've been working my tail off on but alas, I ran out of tulle :( I've placed an order so I'll hopefully have it finished by Friday!
  • Made this cute little guy for the shop but looks like it won't go in there until tomorrow morning.
  • Working tonight.
  • Need a shower.
  • Raining.
  • I've got sprouts in the Fairy meadow...sprouts people! I'm not a seed failure after all!!
  • 10 days left of school or 9 since two of those days are only 1/2 days.
  • Just booked Ruby's birthday party at the Works (pool).
  • I can't believe we stopped watching last seasons Weeds...playing catch up last night...such a great show!
  • I'm supposed to take a food test at work. The word 'test' IS a four letter word...kwim??? Stommmmacheee achhhe.
  • Time to print the tide chart.
  • Time to print Butternut Farms fruit schedule.
  • mmmmmm, Summer.

Good things...

Ahhhhh...my dining room is starting to look less like a sweat shop and more like my office (we only 'dine' in there about twice a year so 'my office' it is!).
I cleaned out the hutch and put the wine glasses and platters on the bottom.
Put all my fun, vintage martini shakers in the kitchen...I'll snap a pic for ya'll to see later :)
Went through the daunting task of folding all my fabrics and neatly placing them in piles.
I'm hoping this first Spring cleaning/organization keeps the ball rolling...I MUST stay inspired!!!
***
I've been avoiding Old Navy like the plague since their new ad campaign first made it's debut.
I find it ugly and a total turn off.
However, I went in there today to grab a few things for the girls and saw these birdie sweaters and HAD to have both of them for myself...TOO CUTE!
***
I've been playing with this little Earth Day design in my head for a few days and finally had a little time to get it done today. I made one for both Zoe and Ruby. I'll be listing them in the shop in a bit. I know it's a little late to be listing something for Earth Day but we need to love our Mama every day not just one day out of the year!!!! Cute ehh?

3/27/09

So.
Remember when I made my friend a play block like the one above?

She liked it so much she wanted to buy one for one of her girlfriends!
I'll be listing them in my shop in the next few days...the one above is already in there but reserved :)
***
I'm totally exhausted and still a bit under the weather...I need to get through tonight and tomorrow night and I'll be home free! I'm only working two shifts next week and I can hardly wait for the down time.
***
We had some real beauties at the bar last night! I couldn't possible make up the things I hear and see every night....to quote my fellow bar chic they're all WACK-A-DOODLE!
***
Spring is definitely finding it's way to the Seacoast...the snow is finally melting and I can actually see grass!!! Yesterday I took Ruby and Stella for a quick walk...the birds were singing so loudly...it was so nice to hear :)
***
Happy Friday to you!

This picture makes me smile.
I don't have many good pix of Rue...she hates having her picture taken.
She looks really happy here and luckily I was able to capture her without her knowing it!
I played with the image a bit with Picnik.
My picture taking is no match for all you REAL photographers who read my blog...Graham Crackers, Whatever, Brown Eyed Fox...just to name a few!
Will you teach me ;)

***
I had high hopes of getting a ton done Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
I'm scheduled to work tonight, Thurs, Fri and Saturday.
I've had the flu since Monday night and could really use some healing thoughts my way.
Mr. Motrin and Dayquil will have to be my best friends today...along with a little cat nap cuddle with Miss Stella.
***
I'm so sorry you haven't seen anything new yet in my shop.
I'm trying like crazy to keep up with orders and need to make them my first priority...even though my ideas are just itching to become a reality!!
I love that people like my goodies...feels like a big warm hug I tell you!
***
Wishing you a great day!

Please tell me...

This is no indication of what the rest of my day will be like!

*

I had to drain the washing machine...omg. Gallons upon gallons of water came pouring out along with S.A.W.D.U.S.T.!!!! Thank you honey! Luckily I had a wet vac near by.

*
Stella spilled a full cup of gluey water I had prepared for her to do a collage with...all over the floor.

*
Zoe ran in from outside to grab a tissue with MUDDY BOOTS!

Luckily the mail lady came just in time with these to cheer me up!

I could just eat this fabric...my new fave!

and this...my favorite 'heart' girls....I'm just loving them Jody!

***
I'm working tonight and it's going to be CrAzY!!!
Can't wait...love it!
Have a good night yourselves!

I've been busy...

Things always happen in spurts in my shop.
I busted these custom tees out earlier for a fabulous customer...LOVE her!
Actually, I really LOVE all my customers...muah!
I've got four more orders to fill and I'll be all caught up.
This working at night thing seems to really slow me down during the day.
I still haven't found that balance yet but I will!
I'm happy to make things and that includes drinks so I'm in a good spot.
Off to get Miss Zoe at school.
She's in a play for the next three nights...She's in the candy chorus in Willy Wonka :)
Gotta fly!
Bye!
